AMSA98/NT

The Automated Mapping System-Advanced, or AMSA, is a sophisticated yet easy-to-use mapping software package that allows a user with a personal computer to perform detailed and complex drafting and map-making operations. It also permits the user to generate a variety of useful outputs quickly and easily.

AMSA has been created by a team of professionals with a wide range of training and experience in the fields of photogrammetry, cartography, computer science, and urban planning.

Versatile data input. Data can be input using various devices, including: keyboard, mouse, digitizer, analog plotter, and analytical stereo plotter.

Universal database. The AMSA system accepts data from files created on other systems—even if they’re of different scales, sizes, and orientations. The only requirement is that all input must be based on the same coordinate system.

Complete operator control. With AMSA, you operate interactively with the system to create and edit drawings of virtually any size or scale. Powerful editing commands allow a drawing to be changed, corrected and erased partially or globally.

Easy operation. With AMSA, it’s easy to draw lines, arcs, circles, splines and polygons. AMSA helps you pick up the drawing where it was left off, too, by "snapping" to a point, string, or polygon. And all drawings can be annotated with text of any size, angle, and scale.

Multiple layers. A single drawing can contain up to 999 different drawing layers. This permits the use of one layer for roads, another for water, and so on. Layers may consist of different line types and different colors for readability, and may be turned off and on in any combination.

"Freehand" drawing and exact dimensions. AMSA permits a drawing’s location and dimensions to be specified with pinpoint accuracy via the keyboard, and it also provides "freehand" drawing with digitizer or mouse.

Highly specific output selection. In the AMSA system, different layers can be plotted or printed at different times and in different colors, just as if they were on transparent overlays. And it’s easy. You simply specify a window, then generate a plot of it.

Direct File Interface.* AMSA is capable of importing and exporting to and from other CAD file formats such as AutoCAD .DWG and Microstation .DGN. These capabilities are exceptionally useful when you are working with your clients/contractors whose CAD systems are using other file formats.

And economical too! Because it runs on any WINDOWS based (windows 95/98/NT with a Pentium processor) personal computer, AMSA offers economy as well as power. There are additional advantages that show up only in operation—such as the ability to generate a proof plot on any plotter supported by a standard WINDOWS driver and even generate a high-quality plot with photo-like images in several formats such as .TIFF and .PCX.

* Optional Module required

The Automated Mapping System-Advanced has harnessed the power of the computer for use on the drawing board. Yet operation is so simple, so natural—you just draw as if you were using a pencil. You choose a point, draw a line, then lift the "pencil" and move it to the next point to draw another line. You can work on different sections of a job at different times: a little here, a little there, combining old data and new drawing until everything is just the way you want it. Your printouts and plots are perfect, every time.
